About Magic of Life Butterfly House
Come and see some of the largest and most colourful butterflies in the world! Walk among them and watch them feeding, courting and laying eggs.
Malay Lacewings Malay Lacewings
Our pupae are farmed sustainably in the tropics. We put them in an incubator where they emerge the following week. Many of the butterflies have natural lives of only a week or two meaning that we import hundreds of pupae each season. We display up to 80 different species of butterflies over the year.
Dictyoploca simla caterpillar Dictyoploca caterpillar
Each month we rear a number of giant caterpillars. These often belong to the silkmoth family and they eat prodigious amounts of foliage.
Glory LilyGlory Lily
The lush tropical conditions allow many rare and exotic plants to thrive. We display many species of Passion flowers, Bananas, Birthworts and Cannas.
Brahmea hearseyi moth Brahmea moth
Many of the moths we display rival the butterflies for their beauty.
Frog Beetles Frog beetles
Our reception room has many different types of insects from beetles to praying mantids and giant stick insects.
Butterfly Garden Magic of Life Butterfly House
The Magic of Life garden brings together butterfly plants and bold, exotic foliage plants.
