About Boyds Cove Beothuk Interpretation Centre
Boyd's Cove is a rural fishing, lumbering and farming town, which was
first settled by the Beothuks in the late 1700s and with European
settlement the late 1800s. Boyd's Cove has been the main supplier of
turnip, carrot, potato and hay to the Nortre Dame Bay area.
In
the early 1980s a Beothuk archaeological site was excavated by Dr.
Ralph T. Pastore of Memorial University of Newfoundland. Boyd's Cove
Beothuk Interpretation Centre in now found at the site; it offers
guided tours of the 300 year old site as well as a walking trail.
