About Sherwood Forest Country Park
There are 450 acres of ancient woodland for you to explore. Once a royal hunting forest, this is the legendary home of the outlaw Robin Hood, today part of a National Nature Reserve because of its national ecological importance. There are 900 veteran oak trees here, including the famous Major Oak.
Each year we welcome around 500,000 visitors to Sherwood Forest. Admission to the Visitor Centre and park is free, with just a small seasonal charge for car parking.
